View From True North Wins the 2017 Crab Orchard Series in Poetry Open Competition Award

(sarahenningpoet.com) View from True North, the breakthrough collection of poems by Sara Henning, was selected by Adrian Matejka as the co-winner of the 2017 Crab Orchard Series in Poetry Open Competition Award. The annual award is presented by Southern Illinois University Press.

The Crab Orchard Series in Poetry was founded in 1998 by Jon Tribble and Allison Joseph as a co-publishing venture of the Crab Orchard Review literary journal and Southern Illinois University Press. Published by the English department at Southern Illinois University, the series focuses on publishing the best new work featuring new voices in American poetry.

Henning was named the co-winner of the 2017 Crab Orchard Series’ Open Competition Award, sharing the honor with Monica Berlin’s collection Nostalgia For A World Where We Can Live. Other 2017 honorees include E.C. Belli, whose Objects of Hunger received the First Book Award, while The Gospel According To Wild Indigo by Cyrus Cassels was selected as the series’ Editor’s Selection.
